I have an example. We are preparing the conference about leadership this year. According to the plan, we wanted 6 speakers. For the diversity of opinions and points of view, I searched speakers from 3 groups of characteristics: cases from different sizes companies (international business and medium local), cases about the diversity of sex and ages (because the leadership topic is full of bias), and cases from different counties. From this conception, we have 6 polar points that will provide the interest of diverse audiences as well.

To ensure every perspective is represented at events, I start by expanding my search for speakers beyond typical networks, reaching out to thought leaders from varied backgrounds and experiences. I set clear diversity criteria to guide the selection process, aiming for balance across gender, culture, expertise, and viewpoints. I also prioritize creating an inclusive atmosphere by briefing speakers on the importance of respect and open dialogue. This approach not only enriches the event content but also makes attendees feel that all voices are valued and welcomed.

To ensure diverse perspectives at an event: 1. Include range of objectives that support and challenge the subject 2. Choose speakers from diverse industries to create broader relevance for variety of audience 3. Incorporate opportunities for dialogue with the audience to develop real-time insights into current opportunities

Know your attendees and their interest and then try and connect with speakers from different backgrounds. Speakers should know its audience in advance, so that there can be good interaction between both sides hence enhancing maximum knowledge sharing.

To ensure every perspective is represented, I start by understanding our audience’s needs and identifying which voices will bring the most value to them. I build a speaker diversity matrix to track a balance of backgrounds, industries, and viewpoints. By connecting with underrepresented groups, I bring fresh perspectives to the table and reach out early to secure speakers who align with our event’s mission. With a diverse planning team and moderated discussions that highlight contrasting viewpoints, we create a space for rich dialogue. The result? An event experience that feels inclusive, impactful, and true to its purpose.
