Embracing sustainable practices in philanthropy ensures that your passion for giving back yields enduring benefits. To embed sustainability in your initiatives, consider:
- Partnering with organizations that prioritize long-term solutions over temporary fixes.
- Investing in community-led projects, which often guarantee greater sustainability due to local ownership.
- Evaluating the environmental impact of your efforts, aiming to support eco-friendly projects.
How do you think sustainable practices can be further integrated into philanthropy?
-
Yes to a long term view! However, to add something different — get strategic. ie. coordinating whom and where you’re investing in to achieve collective impact in a particular area. Get focused. I see so many philanthropists who have made their money through being super focused on tech investments or strategically growing their business. But when it comes to their philanthropy activities it’s as scattergun as anything. Pet project here, heartfelt need there, something they saw on TV over there… There’s an opportunity to focus your giving and see one area grow in its impact far beyond if you have a piecemeal strategy.
