You're overwhelmed with CAD projects and tight deadlines. How will you prioritize your tasks effectively?

Two principles I find always useful in evaluating urgency is the application of the 80/20 rule and the weighting system. The 80/20 rule, otherwise known as the Pareto Principle, states that 20 percent of your activities will account for 80 percent of your results. When faced with multiple CAD projects with tight deadlines, find that least 20% that will show about 80% of significant progress. Even if you don't finish that project before the deadline, you have covered a significant part of the work assigned to you The weighting system involves attaching significant weight to the various CAD projects in relationship to the impact the respective projects will have in the long run and arrange in order from heaviest to lightest.

When overwhelmed with CAD projects and tight deadlines, I’d prioritize tasks by first assessing their urgency and impact on the overall project. I’d break down each project into smaller tasks and tackle the high-priority or time-sensitive ones first. Delegating when possible, automating repetitive tasks, and setting realistic daily goals would also help manage the workload. Regularly reviewing progress and adjusting priorities as needed ensures that I stay on track and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

1) Do Backward calculation from Target date 2) Plan how much time take to complete one task and then calculate how many resource required to achieve target date. 3) put 15% buffer time 4) Start work with easy task with more priority.

I’d recommend starting by working backward from the deadline to hit your target date. First, determine how long each task will take and how many resources you’ll need. Make sure to include a 25% buffer for any unexpected problems or setbacks. I’d suggest beginning with the easier, high-priority tasks to build some momentum and keep things on track!

Define Objectives: Clearly outline the goals and deliverables for each project (For example if task involves 3D modeling & LOD or simple 2D drafting) Evaluate following Identify Resources: List all resources (Software, hardware and personnel) needed Access Constraints: Note any limitation or constraints (Budget, time and Technology) Determine dependencies: Identify tasks that depend on the completion of others.

Boost your workflow by Planning it out effectively! Optimise your workspace and doing one thing at a time. Multitasking can be a very useful skill to have in your day to day. However, with design work, this can kill your productivity in my opinion.

Break Down Tasks: Divide each project into smaller, manageable task. Establish clear milestone for each task. Define Key Deliverables: Identify the major deliverables for each project Create a Timeline: Establish a timeline for each deliverable.

Prioritize by urgency and Importance: - Urgent and Important: Tackle these first - Important but not Urgent: Schedule these next - Urgent but not Important: Delegate if possible - Neither Urgent nor Important: Consider postponing or eliminating. Allocate resources as per the priority matrix.

In thus case you will need to define and breakdown the project according to urgency. There are those parts or sub-assemblies that drives the main assembly, you will need to start with making designs and drawings of those parts and assemblies so that you can kick start the project . This will give you time to work on those other designs that are not urgent on a later date , whist the project is moving forward.
