You're overseeing ERP analytics initiatives. How do you ensure stakeholder expectations are met?

In my experience, before the commencement of implementing an ERP system it is beneficial to gather current state information from existing users and stakeholders. Maintain clarity on pain points of the current process as well as clarity of wastes that could be eliminated from the current state. This builds trust between the project team, stakeholders and users.

Start by establishing open lines of communication from the outset, setting clear objectives, and defining key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with stakeholders’ goals. Regularly update stakeholders on progress through concise, well-structured reports and presentations, highlighting key insights and any potential issues. Use visual aids like dashboards and charts to make complex data more accessible. Encourage feedback and be responsive to concerns, fostering a collaborative environment. By maintaining transparency and actively engaging with stakeholders, you can build trust and ensure that their expectations are consistently met, leading to successful project outcomes.

Begin by thoroughly understanding the stakeholders’ needs and constraints, and then define clear, achievable objectives that align with their priorities. Break down these objectives into manageable milestones, ensuring each step is feasible within the given timeframe and resources. Communicate these goals transparently to all stakeholders, explaining the rationale behind each target and how it contributes to the overall success of the project. Regularly review and adjust goals as needed, based on progress and feedback, to keep the project on track. By setting and managing realistic goals, you can build confidence and trust among stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are consistently met.

Having defined the expectations and clearly understanding which areas of waste can be eliminated priorities can then be set and results can be measured. This also ensures that project subsections can be planned, tracked and measured ensuring desired results are achieved.

As mentioned preciously, engaging stakeholders ensures the anticipated result is designed, developed and implemented drawing from a great wealth of stakeholder knowledge.

Achieving the above and planning a proper training allows the identification of gaps that which ensures the results are achieved.

Data Security and privacy of analytics should be called out in the NFR and also included for users to test. The test results will be the first instance where stakeholder community will evidence the NFR's at play and the grounds for trust will be built on strong foundation. Needless to mention, the stakeholders must have a strong knowledge about the data models and its usage within the ERP system
