1 Environmental Performance Indicators

One of the first steps to assess your environmental performance is to define and track relevant indicators that reflect your environmental goals and impacts. Environmental performance indicators (EPIs) are quantitative or qualitative measures that help you monitor and evaluate your environmental performance over time. Another key element of environmental performance management is to implement and maintain an effective environmental management system (EMS). En Colombia la mayoría de estas industrias deben poseer licencias ambientales, donde se detallan los deberes a cumplir y doy fe que son medidas rigurosas que van en pro de la conservación ambiental y social. Dichas licencias van acompa?adas de seguimientos periódicos donde se evalua a detalle el cumplimiento de estos debes y se hacen conceptos técnicos que buscan mejorar lo que ya está planteado o las falencias encontradas.

You should also follow widely accepted frameworks and guidelines for your environmental reporting and disclosure, such as the GRI, the IOGP, or the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Oil and gas companies can benefit from independent, or third-party assessment of their environmental performance through participating in world-renowned rating programs. In doing so, they will be able to benchmark their performance against a wide range of industry specific economic, environmental and social criteria which are relevant to the growing number of sustainability focused investors and which are financially relevant to their success. This type of assessment will serve as a reference for companies to assess from an investor point of view how their sustainability performance is financially relevant, so that they can take appropriate action in relation to future sustainability trends.
