2 Build trust and rapport

One of the key factors that influence the quality and impact of mentorship is the level of trust and rapport between the mentor and the mentee. Trust and rapport are built over time, through consistent, respectful, and supportive interactions. As a mentor, you can foster trust and rapport by showing genuine interest in your mentee's goals, needs, and challenges; listening actively and empathetically; asking open-ended and probing questions; sharing relevant stories and insights from your own experience; and acknowledging and celebrating your mentee's achievements and efforts.
