The first step to build a strong network is to not try hard to build a network. I know that sounds counterintuitive but here is why I say that. People are not computers, they have emotions, feelings. If you strive to build genuine connections, want to learn more about your contacts and take active interest in whatever they have to say, the network will automatically build itself.

One of the keys to success as an executive coach is to get clear on WHO you want to serve. This requires us to be clear on our core values and core purpose. However, you can't think your way through thuis process. It requires an experimental mindset where you are paying attention to your energy and becoming aware of your own talents, interests and strengths. When you do some of this internal work and then go out to meet people, you will notice that there are some people that you can connect with effortlessly, while it's a different experience with others. I started coaching in 2014 and it was only after being in the space for about 5 years that I got really clear on my niche and I was able to go ALL IN! Wishing you the very best!!

Building a network is a lifelong endeavor that requires dedication and commitment. Consistency plays an important role when you have to connect with people and have your presence on social media. Who is your target audience? On which social platform they are available and accordingly choosing the social network to connect with the target audience is a must. Having a professional website will add value in having the presence and connecting with the target audience.

Create content. Every day. Build an audience on multiple platforms. Yes, I know there's not much new to say. The socials are filled with redundant insights. Still, make sure your voice is amongst them.

An online presence is how you get clients in today's world. It is an essential piece of your business. I listened to Gary V. in the beginning as he instructs posting as much content as humanly possible. I do think it is important to post, however, this caused me problems in the beginning. I thought I needed to be on Insta, FB, Threads, Pinterest, YouTube, SNAP, and LinkedIn. It forced me to make content I didn't enjoy and took up a great deal of time when I needed to be focusing on the business. What changed the game for me was picking one platform in the beginning and focusing on that. The one I gravitated to was LinkedIn, as I think it's the best one. When your business is up & running and you have a footing you can expand if you want.

Communities are groups of people who share a common purpose: a place, an interest, an action or a practice - the 'doing' together. You'll multiply your learning and help others to do the same by contributing to an authentic community of practice. By being open, enjoying and giving to the experience; you'll be rewarded with the group's collective intelligence, talent, learnings and support - we are wired to connect for a reason!

One example I have seen or experienced when an individual is trying to establish yourself as an Executive Coach in a any specific market or niche is to specifically define one's "unique selling proposition" early on. This is critical in establishing a brand that resonates with the target client base you are pursuing, as well as establishing an empowering professional network that will serve as advocates for your coaching practice long term that will result in growing one's business.

Creating communities is more effective than joining them. Why? Existing communities have existing agendas. If the existing agenda matches yours, being part of such a network mat be worth it. Otherwise, form your own.

This can be tricky. If you’re early on in your coaching career, take these communities with a grain of salt, otherwise you will be lost at sea in an ocean of likeminded coaches. Do your own thing, create your own unique brand, have your own unique perspective.

Building relationships with authenticity, trust and giving to others. Many think money is the currency we should be focused on. Others will say time. But the greatest currency we should focus on, is people and building relationships with people. For it is us, the humans who are at the forefront of developing and creating the foundations technology builds upon - but no technology can understand people in the way that we can through emotions and logic - if we don't understand people, we don't understand business. One cannot be an effective executive coach without realizing this. Behind the power of performance is the power to believe. Belief in ourself and to have others believe in us. That takes building authentic relationships with others.

Definitely a key factor in ensuring long term growth of your practice. I'd like to stress the value of building authentic relationships based on values. Even if you don't get work from your network immediately, stick around! You're always going to be considered whenever an opportunity arises. As an accountant, I found that I had to develop strong networking skills to grow our practice. Most of the networking principles sound cliché but are definitely useful in building a successful business. Also reach out to people you've interacted with in the past - people who know you and what you do. I find that I've less work to do in closing a client who's a former classmate, student, colleague or acquaintance.

Tell your story and make sure you connect with the message you are trying to convey! It’s the stories that people resonate with and will have them talking long after your 45 minutes and 15 of Q & A are all over! For me, it’s all about the authenticity and transparency. You must be willing to be vulnerable. If your audience is able to walk away with just one Golden Nugget, you have done your job! When I speak, coach or consult, I tell my audience to be, memorable!

Building meaningful organic relationships is key to any business and even more so for a coaching business. It is in our best interest to keep investing in relationships.

Building relationships cannot be one sided where one is reaching out with the aim of receiving something. Key is to understand that this is a give and take relationship, so always begin with what you can offer.

Beyond maintaining your network, anticipate the needs of your network, share resources, determine which tools are needed and help with the expansion of their network. It is important to continuously give back whenever possible.

To develop your network as a coach, attend coaching conferences and workshops, join coaching forums or online communities, offer to speak at industry events or host webinars, collaborate with complementary professionals, volunteer coaching services for non-profit organizations or community groups, attend local networking events or meetups, and join coaching mastermind groups or accountability partnerships to receive support and feedback from like-minded peers.

5 . Mantener la red. No vale hacerlo todo en un día y después abandonarlo. Hay que trabajar, tiene que estar activa y además actualizada. Hay que valorar los valores de cada uno y hacerles ver que son válidos e incluso premiarlos, aunque solo sea para animarlos y que estén siempre positivos y atentos. As a coach, having a group is always good. I personally have a learning cohort with 12 seasoned coaches. Every month each coach will train us with certain concepts & we also invite coach speakers from outside to talk about some relevant topic. By this with existing contacts we maintain networks & also make new relationships.

The thing is to things right and not doing the 'right' thing! Helping people without expectations gets you out there and that alone will sufficiently market itself for you. When you assist and put yourself out for others to benefit, you are verily growing your network and the 'universe' will naturally draw people to you...I have personally experienced this and I always ask myself, ' how does this person know of me?'. Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular. Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world!

Having only known people will not always help. We need to grow the circle. Network is net worth. Though we are in coaching & we do our work independently, still for some guidance or support, we need experts around us. It can be from our field or from the cross functional field. It is always good to expand our networks

Go there to discover how you can help others. How does this work? You’ve heard the phrase; “When you give out to the universe, it will repay you many times.” Do nice things for people and nice things will happen back. The rule is, don’t do anything expecting something back, then it doesn’t work. Also, use the 90 day rule to follow up and keep in touch.

Explore opportunities to collaborate and partner with other coaches, consultants, or professionals who complement your skills and expertise. Collaborative projects, joint ventures, or referral partnerships can help you expand your reach, access new clients, and offer additional value to your clients.

Build relationships before you need them. This was a lesson a consultant taught me early in my career. Building relationships takes time to establish and nurture. The best relationships are ones that go beyond the immediate transactions with a focus on long term mutual support. I would argue that by the time we are in a position to be able to provide executive coaching, it may already be too late to build enough new relationships to have meaningful impact to our business. Start early. Nurture often.

Do a great job at coaching! While most professionals know how to build, grow and maintain your network, nothing builds your reputation like genuine word of mouth from your existing clients. One of the best career advice I learnt from Satya Nadella, while at Microsoft, was “Don’t wait for your next job to do your best work” We can apply the same principle here. Start with the client at hand, do a great job coaching and build a credible word of mouth to grow your network!

Keep your clients close, that’s where you know you can bring the most value. When you get to know some people and teams at a deeper level, your interventions are more effective towards their desired goals. Bringing in new clients is sometimes more difficult and we might invest too much time and effort on it and forget the ones which we worked well with.

Rather than a 'network', I'd like to think about a community. A community of people coming together valuing similar things, yet perhaps with profoundly different opinions, perspectives & voices. If I look at 'my community' through my coach lens, I can see it's a place for connection, growth and learning. Some of these community members become sparring partners, some become clients, some give insights and ideas from afar... I don't necessarily personally know everyone I consider being a part of my community - yet they all contribute to my growth and evolution...and hopefully I can positively contribute to some! Rather than 'building a network', for me it's about finding the most interesting people to journey this life with & keep learning.
