In managing workload distribution, I always prefer to assess the strengths, expertise & capacity of each colleague working under me. Task assignment and workload should be aligned with our organisational / team's business goals, resource availability, customer requirements as well as with career goals of each employee. Clear communication and transparency in workload allocation would ensure everyone in the team understands the reasoning behind assignments, with regular check-ins to adjust or fine tune the workload as & when needed. One can maintain fairness in work load assignment by Implementing a system for tracking completed tasks, hours spent, and progress.

I initiate candid discussions about our individual strengths, weaknesses, and current workload capacities. This transparency helps us understand each other’s perspectives and sets the stage for equitable task allocation. I find it helpful to create a shared task list using project management tools like Trello or Asana. These platforms allow us to visualize all tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities, making it easier to divide work based on our strengths and availability. Additionally, I schedule regular check-ins to reassess our progress and workload. This not only keeps us accountable but also allows us to make adjustments as necessary.

Defining criteria for fairness—such as skillsets, time commitment, and personal circumstances—will guide our decisions. Based on this, I would propose a flexible workload plan, and emphasize that it should be revisited regularly. Establishing regular check-ins would help us monitor progress and reassess responsibilities as needed. Additionally, celebrating our collective successes will strengthen collaboration, motivation, and promote a positive working relationship while maintaining a balanced workload.
