Pick up on clues during your first engagements to better determine their level of technical expertise and communicate at a slightly lower level, being careful not to insult their intelligence, as this could be offensive. If you are unsure, begin with a simple "I do not mean to insult your intelligence; if you already know this, please let me know." Starting at a lower level and covering your bases is preferable to rambling on something they have no idea about, as they are less likely to speak up and ask questions. Translate key terms and acronyms into simple language.

I find sharing clickable prototypes with stakeholders very beneficial. Walking them through the entire flow, clicking buttons, and interacting with the interface as a user would offer a real understanding of the product. ??
