If the striving for economic growth, puts soil health at risk, and doesn't help to stop the global warming, the idea of degrowth comes up. This sounds a bit negative, which is unjustified. Investors should make profit, but should not have a return in line with GDP, but have their return based on added value instead! If a holistic regenerative agriculture approach brings balance in the foodecosystem, we will recover CO2 and nutrients and hinder nutrient leaks, therefore we will accumulate value from resources putting environment, health and climate at risk if we don't use them in the right way. This way we don't exploit natural resources. When investors change the focus from sales volume to added value, good food can change the world.

One day on the farm,.. is not the same as the other. Every single season is different, weather, time, soil conditions, and the risk of food decay, always challenge us. Investors might think in fixed repayment schedules, and use a timeline to define return on investment. It's better to determine a multi-year average for repayments, from which the farmer may not deviate by more than 30%, for example. Because a farmer knows that you have to wait for the right time to sow etc. But you have to do all your jobs, to keep the value of the farm, the quality of the soil... A farmer invests every day! It's not like the stock market, where you only invest if you expect it to be very profitable. But photosynthetic growth will see to food ànd climate!

One thing I've found helpfull: to divide the surface of one crop type in two. For half of the crop, the farmer takes the risk, for the other half, the investor. The common ground is the expected sales volume. The farmer does the work, but the costs are divided in two. If the sales volume is what you expected, half is for the farmer, from the other half he only gets payed for the work. If the crop produces less profit or more than expected, the loss, or profit is divided in two. At the end of the year, a better chance that the farmer will be able to meet the repayment obligations of his loans. Win-win, right?! And it creates a better connection and common goal!
