Considering the type of market where I work, e-commerce and technology, being close to rivals is essential to create a good and trustable ecosystem for everyone involved. Competition can actually foster a healthier ecosystem. It is very common in a tech company to have products which competes with one another in one side, and it can also be partner in another side! Better understand the differences between products and companies can also help guiding the final client to the type of product that might suits best, and gaining this type of confidence from a client, even this client will not close deal with you in this moment, creates a mark of trust in them and this trust can lead to future business and referrals.
