I fully agree on the guidelines mentioned above and have applied similar approaches. Another thing which can be done is to simulate all Designs and test them (keeping the cost in control) to identify the best approach. We may not have one strong option only but final results may require hybrid/complementary approach to get best out of each Design criteria. In this way, we will keep the process productive and emotion free (purely empirical). This approach will foster more engagement in future and will also help in setting a criteria to be followed to get best out of conflicting responses.
