In my personal observation, I avoid taking work home. Resolve the assignment in the workplace, even if it requires more time. Empower people to complete tasks without overseeing them.

If in doubt with priorities remember: No-one ever died saying "I wish I'd spent more time in the office" Try reading a father's advice to his son (Polonius to Laertes) in Hamlet "This above all, to thine own self be true"

Prioritizing tasks as an IT professional involves the following steps: List All Tasks: Write down everything you need to do. Categorize by Urgency and Importance: Use the Eisenhower Matrix to categorize tasks: Urgent and Important Important but Not Urgent Urgent but Not Important Neither Urgent nor Important Focus on High-Priority Tasks: Start with tasks that are both urgent and important. Delegate: Assign tasks that are urgent but not important.

One time at work, a freshly joined IT Manager asked me you to complete all the tasks when everything is labelled as IT have to do it. So my advice was: 1)Write down everything your IT department need to do. 2) Look at the list and add in who can this without IT department skills. 3) The remainder of the list, categorize it and remove the duplicates. 4) After categorized, start prioritising the task to: a) Urgent and Important b) Important but Not Urgent c) Urgent but Not Important d)Neither Urgent nor Important 5) Start with High-Priority Tasks that are both urgent and important. 6) Delegate the tasks to the team and monitor it.

Define Work Hours: Clearly specify your work hours and stick to them. Communicate Limits: Inform your team and clients about your availability. Use Technology Wisely: Set email and messaging app notifications to off during non-work hours. Create a Workspace: Designate a specific area for work to separate it from personal life. Take Breaks: Schedule regular breaks to avoid burnout. Learn to Say No: Politely decline tasks that overload your schedule or fall outside your role.

In my experience, learn not to bring back work home. Settle the task in the office even if you need to spend more hours on it. Train you team to work on the tasks without your micromanaging then.

Join Professional Groups: Become a member of industry associations and local tech groups. Seek Mentorship: Find mentors and offer mentorship to others. Follow Up: Maintain contact with new connections through regular follow-ups. Share Knowledge: Contribute to discussions, write blogs, and give talks. Collaborate on Projects: Work with peers on open-source projects or side projects. Be Genuine: Build authentic relationships by being sincere and helpful.
