Here's how you, as an educator and mentor in business innovation, can simply establish trust and rapport to help your mentee reach their full potential: 1. Be Open & Friendly: Smile, listen, and make them feel welcome. 2. Celebrate Wins (Big or Small!): High-five their progress, it keeps them motivated. 3. Help, Don't Boss: Offer guidance, but let them make choices and learn. 4. Listen Up!: Pay attention to their ideas and challenges. Be naturally approachable, supportive, and their biggest cheerleader! This will help them shine in business innovation.

Based on my experience, here's a simplified approach to setting goals and expectations for your mentee in business innovation: 1. Team Up on Goals: Chat with your mentee and brainstorm cool innovation ideas together. Set simple, achievable goals they can reach. 2. Clear Expectations: Explain how they'll know they're doing well (e.g., finished project, happy clients). Talk about how you'll chat and share feedback. 3. Learning Over Perfection: Let them know it's okay to make mistakes, that's how we learn! Celebrate their progress and encourage them to keep exploring new ideas. Remember: Be a cheerleader, listen to their ideas, and focus on progress, not perfection. This will help them become a business innovation superstar!

It is important to understand that innovation is a trial-and-error process. One needs to deal with failures as part of this process. From the first idea to the prototype, there is a learning curve from which the entrepreneur can draw important lessons.

Be the biggest fan of your mentee, not their editor! Show them that exploration isn't scary, it's a fun key to unlocking amazing innovation. Here is how: 1. "Crazy Ideas? Awesome!" Encourage wild brainstorming, with no limits! 2. "Try Small Stuff!" Suggest mini-tests to explore ideas - failure is okay, it's all learning! 3. "High Five Trying!" Celebrate their exploration, even the weird stuff! 4. "Learn From It All!" Discuss what they learned, good or bad. 5. "Cool Innovation Stories!" Share stories of awesome innovations that started with exploration. Conclusively, exploration is fun and leads to amazing innovation!

I will share my own experience and insights on exploration and experimentation, ones that worked or not worked and why. I will also bring him/her along to some real case innovation sessions, workshops, group discussions to experience the dynamic engagement, the conversation, the energy, the building-on-each-other, more critically the importance of building a culture with growth mindset.

Today, Open Source is a way to building community and engaging around innovation. Consumers expect brands to collaborate and build tech that has an impact.

To my mind this starts with a successful exchange of inspiring dialog, back questioning if the market is ready for it, if there is a niche and happy response for it, or unfortunately somebody else has already taken that space.
