Building trust and rapport is about being intentional with your actions and genuinely caring for the wellbeing of your team. Working remotely shouldn't limit a leader's intention of checking in with team members regularly, learning about them on a personal level, giving them space to creatively work when/how they want to work, and showing them that you care. While it may sound easier to build trust in a physical office space, a virtual conference call can be just as effective, and at times, more personal when cameras are turned on and you can truly listen/share perspectives. And learning about what drives your team members, personally, helps them see that you care for them as a person and not just as an employee.
