My team is divided 50/50 in Salary vs hourly employees. What I have realized is that for my salary employees, deadlines are important. If they are meeting the deadline and their work is being completed, than their time management is fine and I do not need to track it stringently. For my hourly employees, they work in shifts and rely heavily on one another to be on time and dedicated. They heavily communciate with me and eachother so someone is helping to cover them. If it becomes an issue then I discuss the impact with them. They are adults and micromanaging their minutes is not something I feel is needed in our team. We use a time tracking system and a project management software. It is very visible to me when something is not lining up.
