I think establishing goals are not enough, we need SMART Goals: We need to collaboratively establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for the team. - Clearly define objectives and milestones, and - Regularly assess progress.

Define vision, align roles, set SMART goals for individual alignment. Provide feedback, celebrate successes for growth mindset. Encourage collaboration, trust, and diversity. Support prof. development through workshops, empower and delegate tasks. Offer mentorship, coaching, and track progress. Celebrate diversity, promote work-life balance, seek external support if needed. Focus on these to build a motivated, engaged, high-performing educational leadership team for optimal student outcomes.

There are many ways to help & support the Educational Leadership team it could be through consistent communication, providing new knowledge through regular training, and fostering a positive environment for their success.

Communication is effective along with the plan. How to execute the plan and the suggestions from the team and also reaching out to the parents about the vision with plan will make it more effective. Making spirit high by introducing the value to the teachers about the vision is equally important.

Without simply communicating our vision, as educational leaders it is important that we try to establish or develop a shared vision. This will ensure that everyone in the team understands, believes in, and is driven to work towards realizing the shared vision. As Peter Senge states "When people truly share a vision they are connected, bound together by a common aspiration". This can help educational leadership shatter barriers overcome challenges and find innovative ways of developing the learning environment and administration systems etc.

While I agree that timely feedback is essential to ensure expected performance from the team, creating a learning culture and a non threatening work environment where teacher- leaders feel comfortable discussing their struggles and offer each other suggestions and support is a fundamental requirement of leading effective team. With fast paced changes that impact curriculum design and implementation, leadership teams also need to have time and space to keep themselves updated. Providing them with this not only keeps them motivated to pursue their own professional development but also prevents burn out and redundancy.

A good way to ensure good feedback is to have scheduled in the calendar a series of check-in points to meet with individuals and with different teams. Depending on the need, some can be brief daily catch-ups, others weekly and or monthly. There are also the moments when you visit people in their work areas. All of these micro and macro interventions create situations and moments when connection, understanding and feedback occurs.

In managing an educational leadership team, the consistent and constructive provision of feedback is pivotal. This practice serves as a catalyst for learning and improvement, enabling team members to identify strengths, areas for development, and set meaningful goals. Recognition, equally vital, fuels motivation and engagement by expressing appreciation for team members' efforts and achievements. According to me, you should always encourage collaboration and innovation. Try to create an environment where team members feel comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Also, you should promote knowledge-sharing and a holistic approach to problem-solving. Encourage your team members to explore new ideas and approaches. If possible, establish a system to reward innovative ideas and initiatives. This could include recognition, special projects, or other incentives to motivate the team to think creatively.

Some of the ways that work for me are: a. Building culture of respect b. Setting an intentional dialogue while exploring multiple perspectives and ideas c Providing reources like handy case studies, related articles to promote evidence based practices d. Brainstorming in synchronous and asynchronous time because there could be perpetual Growth in ideas e. Having faith in my team and nudging them while celebrating their efforts.

Allowing professionals to look at the methods of imparting knowledge in an innovative way and focusing more on the learning outcomes could be of great value. Many at times, various people are working in silos and in process, duplicating the work by not sharing with others. A collaborative approach can really be helpful in bringing the best outcome. For example, when we are working on a similar project in different demographics, we can create a common framework in collaboration and add an innovative approach to the implementation process as per the demographic requirements.

Establish a culture of continuous improvement through collaborative learning communities. Encourage cross-departmental collaboration, peer mentorship, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Organize innovation challenges and provide opportunities for experimentation. Emphasize learning from both successes and failures. Support external networking for fresh perspectives. Implement regular feedback sessions and recognize collaborative achievements. Allocate resources specifically for innovation projects, showcasing organizational commitment to continuous improvement in educational leadership practices.

Powerful initiatives often stem from discussions like 'I came across this insightful article,' 'I recently completed a book on...' or 'Have you tuned into the latest podcast/interview about...'? Formally incorporating this practice is critical. ?? The greatest educational professional are engaged. It's vital not only to complete CPD but also to reflect, ponder, and flex our mental muscles within our respective fields. It is a key success strategy for educational leadership teams.

Offering a broad array of professional development opportunities offers customized learning experiences while also providing common ground. When participants can choose their growth trajectory, agency and autonomy flourish. We should encourage our professional learners to explore facets of practice outside of their comfort zones as well as within interdisciplinary topics.

Continuous professional development is also a priority. We invest in workshops and training programs tailored to each team member’s growth areas. Recently, we organized a leadership workshop focused on adapting to emerging educational trends, enhancing the team’s expertise and adaptability.

According to me, recognising the challenges in managing an educational leadership team, seeking external support is a valuable strategy. Acknowledging that not every issue can be addressed with internal resources, tapping into experts, consultants, mentors, or coaches brings fresh perspectives and insights. This external support not only offers solutions to specific challenges but also provides an opportunity for professional growth and skill development. Embracing the idea that collaboration extends beyond the immediate team fosters a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the educational leadership approach.

Establish mentoring programs where experienced educators or leaders mentor your team members, providing guidance, advice, and a source of external wisdom. So, carving out a portion of your budget for professional support with pay off in dividends. What’s more, model this behavior and obtain external support for yourself as well.

There are many ways to help team members perform at their best. Establishing a psychologically safe culture, where every member feels valued and heard, encourages accountability and learning from mistakes. Cultivating positive emotions through acts of kindness, expressions of gratitude, and helping individuals find meaning in their work contributes to a more engaged and high-performing team. Recognising achievements becomes a vital element in reinforcing a positive work environment, motivating team members to excel.

Make sure you are a secure base, (see George Kohlrieser et al. -> Care to Dare). A secure base is a person, place, goal or object that provides a sense of protection and care. And at the same time it's a source of inspiration, encouraging taking risks.

Ensure you are leading by example. Model the excellence you desire from employees. The days of “rules for thee but not for me” are long gone!
