Most importantly, remember that the networking event is the appetizer. It's the intentional follow up post-event that truly yields desired outcome. The point of networking events is connection, so ensure authenticity and curiosity in your conversations. Your definition of success should be relationship building, not just pitching or closing deals or collecting business cards. Additionally, when you are solo or in pairs, you're more approachable and flexible. Don't make the mistake of only hanging in a clique of friends/colleagues. Make sure you are proactively introducing yourself to others.
-
Your personal brand is unique when you talk about yourself. When you attend any event, just like we write our posts to build authority, we should use 'I' more. Similarly, in networking, we need to speak about ourselves; otherwise, anyone can just share information from Google. Anyone can talk about any topic after reading articles. And when you talk about yourself, you speak the truth, which boosts your confidence level. Naturally, people will be impressed by that.
-
Your personal brand is “you”. So if you want to stand out, don’t just speak about vague stories and examples. Talk about your story, your experiences and struggles. People will identify with those and will be attracted to the real you. That is your unique selling point.

Coco's mantra: Dress impeccably and they remember the person, dress shabbily and they remember the outfit. Dress to represent your industry. If you're a masseuse, don't show up in a suit. If you're a lawyer, don't show up in casual jeans. Dress how people expect your profession to dress. To stand out while doing that, AND dressing impeccably, wear colors that people notice, and they can point to in a crowd. With 50-100-200 people present, if you wear gray, navy, black, solids or patterns, - you blend in. Wear colors where you can easily be found in a sea of bland/blah/neutrals. Make it easy for people to find you if they like your pitch. Dress to stand out, for the right reasons. Charlotte, CharlotteHartForFashion.
