They're so focused on the interview, that they don't stop to take stock of what the job will mean to them, and on how their unique experience and skills will impact the role. This is particularly true for applicants with disabilities, who tend to show how they can succeed in spite of their disability, without exploring the potential value in how their disability has shaped their development and perspective. It's hard to stand out to a recruiter without first understanding who you are and the value you can bring to a role. Only then can you communicate effectively, ensuring that what makes you distinctive will "stand out" to potential employers.

The most effective method to understand one's leadership style is through self-reflection, encompassing a thorough examination of strengths and weaknesses. By introspecting, individuals can gain valuable insights into their innate leadership tendencies and areas for improvement. Additionally, soliciting feedback from team members provides valuable perspectives on leadership effectiveness and areas for development. At the gym, while attending an event such as a sporting event, rodeo, or while volunteering. Even on an airplane. Some of my strongest business relationships today are with people I met in-flight. Starting a conversation with a complete stranger opens doors you never thought possible, and creates relationships that will benefit you in the near and long term.
