You’re looking for the best mobile learning platform for E-Learning. What features should you prioritize?

Sometimes we provide too much information when mobile learning time is so limited. So provide the important or essential information with less clicks, clear and concise text, short videos to explain your information or subject matter, create effective images that explain the concept further and give real life examples that they can relate to.

Show ten people your UI and you’re likely to get feedback on ten different user experiences. Whilst it is impossible to satisfy every demand the priority, in my experience, is to look for the big thematic elements that provide common ground on which users can reference a sense of community in their UX since very few platforms are used isolation. Those big thematic choices will determine the quality of the UX beyond which the individual user can seek out opportunities for personalisation and add, or remove, unique elements to their learning programme that reflect their needs. It’s a fine balancing act but let your audience guide you and give them what they need rather than building something which you like and hoping they all agree.

This question is inherently flawed as different age groups of learners need different features to support their ability to learn with (not from) technology. Younger children are not autonomous learners and as such, they need a higher degree of "teaching presence" to stay on track. This teaching presence can come in the form of blended learning, gamification, and just-in-time feedback. More autonomous learners need features that support their "cognitive presence" such as multi-modalities to understand content.

The learner is likely to be in a dynamic environment full with distractions and unable to access secondary sources of learning material. Think of a commuter who gets a taxi to the station, sits on the train for a short journey and then walks the final 500 metres to the office - three different learning environments. Your content needs to be adaptable and resilient. For example, when it’s noisy are your subtitles clear and easy to read? Are your visuals clear even on the move? If you start with the learner in mind, you’ll finish up with good mobile content.

Features to Prioritize: High-Quality Video and Audio: Essential for delivering clear, engaging content, especially for pronunciation in a language course. Easy Content Update and Management: Tools to easily update marketing and branding lessons as trends evolve. Multimedia Content Support: To incorporate varied materials such as Python coding screencasts or branding case studies. High-quality, up-to-date content is crucial. As a self-learner and teacher, I found platforms that allow quick content updates and support diverse media types to be extremely beneficial for keeping the content fresh and engaging.

For me, in designing a learning experience I tend to think from the user’s perspective. How will they navigate through this lesson/module/course? Are they having to make any unnecessary clicks or take unneeded steps to advance through? If the user experience doesn’t translate well, the content really won’t matter to a certain extent. If they’re willing to quit a course halfway through because of convoluted branching or click patterns, they won’t even see the content.

Este es otro de los puntos a tener muy presentes. Muchas formaciones adolecen de ese mínimo de calidad y, al final, el alumnado o desiste, o no aprende. Keep it simple. In my experience, too many analytics and reporting modules on mobile learning platforms are built by the folks who live for analytics and reports. I like those folks, but they are not the majority of users or platform managers. Whilst it is sometimes necessary to be able to dig deep into the data on learning behaviour and look at the patterns of learning that are taking place it’s also wise to cater for those looking for high-level data they can interpret and share quickly. In my experience, individual learners will want to go to the ‘what’ and ‘when’ of their learning record while learning managers will want to quickly see patterns to assess whether they are driving organisationally appropriate learning. Keep it simple.

Along with this analysis must include a gradient of concept understanding, data interpretation and relevant answer selection percentage over every 10 tests conducted. This shall provide with areas of improvement and focussed learning for better results

Aunque, como he comentado anteriormente, para mi, lo más importante es, "las posibilidades" de la plataforma, es decir, todo lo que permite hacer y la calidad del contenido. Dentro del primer punto, moodle, es muy interesante. Se han desarrollado pluggins muy potentes que permiten un proceso de ense?anza/aprendizaje óptimo. Dentro de este, destacaría todo lo desarrollado dentro del lenguaje H5P. Aquí podemos encontrar muchas opciones con una interfaz muy cuidada. A su vez, la creación del contenido es intuitiva y sencilla.
