What is the benefit of a journey without a destination? Often time, I have the picture of my destination before calling a meeting for strategic planning. During meeting deliberation, I accommodate other views and either use the opportunity to enlighten about my beliefs or drop my beliefs for better arguments that align with our vision, mission and core values considering our strengths, weakness, opportunity and threat. This has worked for me severally and it is still working. Another thing that has worked for me is the use of templates that I have developed over the years in the field. It often advance my journey without stress and faster. I always keep templates and finally, the use of AI to perfect my submission.

When I was the assistant head in charge of academics at Spintex Academy, often times new teacher come with different expectations and temperaments. It was my duty to bring them at par with the expectations of the school and what we could do together to achieve set goals. A leader needs to have clear visions and set strategic goals in order to carry the team along

As an experienced leader in various educational organizations, including schools and academies, certain qualities are essential for ensuring success when leading a team in education. First, I emphasize empathy, as understanding the needs of both students and staff fosters a supportive environment. Communication is also crucial; I strive for clear, open dialogue to build trust and keep everyone informed. Adaptability is vital, allowing me to navigate challenges and embrace change. I maintain a clear vision for the future, which helps align my team’s efforts and motivates everyone. Lastly, I encourage collaboration, creating a sense of community that enhances problem-solving.

Communication is not complete and would not give the required results if it lack feedback. It goes beyond good grammar and speakers assumed precision. The feedback is what will confirm that you are all in the same boat of discussion. That is why communication is often a two way intrument. Two serious will drive my points about feedbacks. We were at a training where an image was projected for our analysis. Depending on your position in the hall, we were viewing different things and the feedback confirmed that. A child had scorpion in his shoe and was screaming but the mother kept on saying it was because he didn't want to go to school. The teacher heard the screaming and could confirm it is not ordinary, until the fact was discovered.

Effective communication is key. Every leader must be able to clearly communicate the vision and company goals to the team and stakeholders. While a leader must communicate, listening is equally an important aspect of communication. A leader must listen to the team member being communicated to in other to understand their perspective

It is not an overstatement to conclude that emotional intelligence is a key driving strength in any team, especially in education, be it classroom setting or staff meeting. Upon resumption this term, a few of our learners relocated and subsequently left the school coupled with the fact that we increased school fees. Instead of the envisaged population explosion, we were like the same and it brought some level of coldness to the team. By my personal assessment, we are good to go so how do I raise the morale of the staff. The same staff are expecting salary increment. Five of our staff also resigned. They met and sent a delegate to meet me before our general meeting. EI played out. It further guided my tongue to what will raise their morale.

Our CPD has always emphasised the 7 habits of highly effective people. Upon resumption, some ugly incidences have raised its ugly heads and we didn't mince words in addressing them promptly. We conducted interviews and offered competent applicants positions in our institution. Unfortunately, our budget couldn't pay them and they turned down the offers. Usually, staff resumption will be before the learners resumption so that we will avail the new staff induction opportunity without affecting their introduction to the community. We can't afford to fail the school community so we had to take some decisions that will embarrasse the school. Redefine role, take up part and share others as if that's our original plan while we continue searching.

The height attained through competition can only be sustained through collaboration. During interview, they were competing to emerge favourably. Now that the competition is over, collaboration for results as a team is the next stage. We can not rule out the fact that people are blessed differently. While some collaborate responsibly, some continue to compete, thereby bringing up conflicts and draw back the wheel of progress. Part of conflict I addressed last week was a clash between two teachers where one is supposed to relief the other who is advancing her studies. She is feeling big for advancing a programe that she was not aware the other party has exceeded causing her to be rude instead of mutual respect to support collaboration.

As a leader in the educational sector, collaborative spirit is a must. A leader must make it intentional to ensure there is active collaborations among team members. Each team member must have a contribution to timetable decisions, term planning, extra curricular activity plannings, etc. This helps to carry the team along
