To be an impactful leader, you must understand your team members. Make it your mission to look beyond the first layer. Show genuine interest in each team member. Learn about their background, their gifts, and what excites them. Showing authentic interest in the person without an ulterior motive will put your team members at ease and help you gain their trust, ensuring good collaboration and communication.

Take the time to understand and appreciate the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of each team member. Recognize the value that diversity brings to the team and the richness it adds to discussions and decision-making processes.

Embrace diversity as a strength and actively appreciate the unique contributions and viewpoints of each team member. Cultivate an environment where differences are celebrated and valued.

It's a fact that communication is to any successful and efficient team. Using active listening, asking open-ended questions, paraphrasing, summarizing, and clarifying helps to assess and evaluate the means of communication and how effective it is and its effect on the listeners and the community.

Foster open and transparent communication channels where every team member feels comfortable expressing their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Encourage active listening and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to speak and be heard.

Promote inclusive collaboration by involving all team members in discussions, brainstorming sessions, and decision-making processes. Create opportunities for collaboration that allow diverse perspectives to be considered and integrated into plans and initiatives.

In a diverse team, everyone has something unique to contribute towards the achievement of the stated goals. Involving every member of the team intentionally gives everyone a sense of belonging.

I strongly believe that leading a diverse team is a continuous learning process which involves being open-minded, curious, and willing to learn from every team members, as well as from other sources of information and inspiration.

Commit to continuous learning and growth as a leader by seeking to understand different perspectives and experiences. Stay informed about diversity-related issues and challenges, and actively work to address them within the team and the broader educational community.

Am example I use with my students is to create pairs and encourage each pair to use sets of questions where each person asks and answer these questions in turns

Regular conversation helps to understand your team members through 'Inner Values'. Once you have attempted to understand the challenges or the way they work, many things can be sorted out on their own.
