The senior guys who had spent over three decades working for a field on diversified responsibilities and positions, may be still irrelevant to the emerging opportunities, work environment, technological tools but their competitive edge is their vast experience, their ability to face diversified challenges, some created by very bright and smart young people and some messed up by some dumbasses- we all face in a work place. This ability to handle such situations is the main strength- ponder on the situation and take up your initiative to resolve the issue, put in place a permanent solution without imposing any restriction on free thinking and criticism.

So one has to be precise and direct in communication, especially in text or clip as delaying the core information may push back the target market-employer, reader, viewer etc. Remember you have few seconds during which you have to create interest of your reader, viewer before he /she moves on to next clip. One has to be direct without delaying the core information. The details should follow like a body of the news follows the intro.

Updating your resume and portfolio is important as it shows the vastness of your experience. Some 16 years ago, in an interview, the interviewer asked me about the title or family name which I had not mentioned in my resume. I explained the reasons and other things including my leadership role as student leader and trade unionist- which turned out to be a big plus. That experience taught me that the details, we find useless as applicant, may be important for the employer and as employer, the profile and resume may not contain the whole perspective and traits of the applicant.

Anything that makes you happy, keep you engaged and improves your mood is the best option for you, your family and the friends around you. The necessary skills and knowledge you can have through online courses, self taught content on the internet or reading books side by side your job or business. I believe one can learn anything but there ought to be reason and suitable environment. If you fail to get it, change the environment and move on to other options.
