Involve influential physicians or department leaders in the training process. Their endorsement can motivate others to participate and embrace the technology. Use practical, hands-on training sessions that allow physicians to interact with the technology in a simulated environment. Use real-life scenarios to demonstrate its application in patient care.

As a CS PhD student actively researching in healthcare tech and communicating with physicians, I believe in: A) Frame as Augmentation - Tech enhances expertise, doesn't replace it - Position as "second opinion" tool - Share evidence of AI-physician collaboration success B) Build Trust - Early physician involvement - discus pain points - Integrate with existing workflow C) Show Value - Reduce admin work - Present time-saving metrics - Demonstrate real case benefits D) Gradual Implementation - Start small - Run pilots - Easy opt-out options The key is driving the narrative away from "AI vs. MD" towards "AI + MD = Better Healthcare." As comp scientists, we should emphasize how technology amplifies human expertise rather than competing with it.

Before the technology is actively implemented, make sure that physicians are aware that this new technology is coming so that they are prepared and feel like they are part of the process from the beginning. Be clear and transparent on the purpose of this new technology and how it is beneficial to them, supporting staff, the institution, patients and all other stakeholders. As the installation begins, provide them with time to implement it, including for example extending time in between patients to give them time to acclimatize to the new technology. Provide them with support staff to support them in the beginning until the get the full hang of it. Be open to feedback on how the experience is for them.

Introducing innovations like EMRs or advanced radiology tools requires collaboration and clear value demonstration. Here’s what works: 1. Involve Early: Engage physicians in the planning process to align technology with clinical workflows. 2. Show Impact: Highlight benefits to patient care, like improved diagnostics or efficiency. 3. Offer Training: Tailored training reduces resistance and builds confidence. 4. Empower Champions: Tech-savvy advocates can inspire wider acceptance. 5. Communicate Transparently: Address concerns openly and build trust. 6. Lead by Example: Demonstrate leadership commitment and ongoing support.

Find a physician champion who can help be your evangelist. First try to find the WIFM for the physician. Does it save them time, reduce clicks, etc. If there isn’t a savings then focus on patient outcomes or improvements. If there isnt a benefit in either of these areas consider if this is work the physician needs to do or if another team member could complete it.
