You’re an intern in mobile design. How can you manage your time effectively?

1 Plan your day

Before you start working, make a list of your priorities, goals, and deadlines for the day. Break down large or complex tasks into smaller and manageable steps. Estimate how much time each task will take and allocate it accordingly. Use a calendar, a planner, or a digital tool to keep track of your schedule and progress. Review your plan at the end of the day and adjust it as needed for the next day.

2 Communicate clearly

As an intern, you need to communicate effectively with your supervisor, your team, and your clients. Make sure you understand the expectations, requirements, and feedback for each project. Ask questions if you are unsure or need clarification. Update your supervisor and your team on your status and any issues or challenges you encounter. Seek feedback and guidance regularly and act on it. Be respectful, professional, and courteous in your communication.

3 Learn from others

One of the best ways to improve your mobile design skills and knowledge is to learn from others. Observe how your colleagues approach problems, use tools, and create solutions. Ask them for advice, tips, and best practices. Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Seek opportunities to collaborate with other designers and developers. Learn from their feedback, critiques, and suggestions. Be open-minded, curious, and eager to learn.

4 Focus on quality

As an intern, you want to impress your supervisor, your team, and your clients with your work. But don't sacrifice quality for quantity or speed. Focus on creating mobile designs that are user-friendly, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Follow the design guidelines, standards, and principles for the platform and the project. Test your designs on different devices, screen sizes, and orientations. Fix any errors, bugs, or glitches. Polish your designs until they are flawless.

5 Balance your workload

As an intern, you may have to juggle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines at the same time. But don't let yourself get overwhelmed or stressed. Balance your workload by prioritizing the most important and urgent tasks first. Delegate or outsource tasks that are not essential or within your scope. Say no to requests that are unreasonable or unrealistic. Take breaks and rest when you need to. Avoid burnout and maintain your health and well-being.

6 Reflect on your experience

As an intern, you have a unique opportunity to grow as a mobile designer and as a professional. But you need to reflect on your experience and evaluate your performance. Identify your strengths and weaknesses, your achievements and challenges, your learning outcomes and areas for improvement. Seek feedback from your supervisor, your team, and your clients. Document your work and update your portfolio. Celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes.
