I tell people , the best way to learn E-Commerce is just browse a lot of amazon and purchase a lot :) On a serious note, the more you browse through some of the key E-Commerce websites (across business verticals), you will be able to comprehend what works and what doesn't work. It will help you wear customer's hat and understand what is it that appeals you and if it provides you what you are looking for. Once you have a view of "what", you can always embark on the journey of "how". I have personally learnt a lot by placing orders and did a lot of returns to understand how the fulfilment aspect of E-Commerce works specially when it comes to grocery and how daily produce that is sensitive is re-routed in case of returns.

Data analysis (and analytical thinking in general) is perhaps one of the most important skils for someone working in the e-commerce sector. They can spark insights, help to identify bottlenecks on processes and also support doubling down on what works best for a particular business. One of the best ways to improve your capacity on that is to, first of all, "read" analytics a lot: check reports for a website you have familiarity with, study industry metrics etc (besides getting well acquainted with the main metrics for your business and segment, of course); and then, if possible, acting upon some of this metrics to see causal effect after changing something on the process (CTAs, landing pages, subject lines, creatives etc).

The skillset of collecting raw data, cleaning up the data and interpreting that data is invaluable to any business. With the various sources of data, there is also a need to filter out the most important key metrics and presenting them in a palatable form aka Dashboards. To be able to do the above and having Data Analysis in your repertoire gives a huge significant advantage in your e-commerce career.

I would say, start an E-Commerce website yourself! You will learn so much in the process of getting your site and vision up and running while learning much more than you would from a course/videos or even a job in just one slice of E-Commerce. Think about a product/service that you can offer and begin creating a vision around it to bring it alive online. One step at a time you will recognize your strengths and weaknesses and maybe even bring some people along for the ride.
