As someone who was initially skeptical about career counseling, I understand the hesitation. What really helped build trust for me was open communication and setting clear, realistic goals from the start. The counselor's ability to listen actively and offer personalized advice made a huge difference. Establishing trust takes time, but creating a transparent and supportive environment can really help clients see the value of the process. Personal experience has taught me that when you stay open to the journey, the outcomes can be truly rewarding.

Be transparent: Be genuine and honest, and take accountability for mistakes. Admitting mistakes shows that your business is transparent and has nothing to hide. Build rapport: Get to know your clients and show genuine interest in their needs and goals. Keep your commitments: Make clear and honest commitments, and keep them. Understand your clients: Listen actively and ask open-ended questions. Be reliable: Demonstrate expertise and knowledge, and take pride in the quality of your work. Act on feedback: Act on any feedback your clients give you, and thank them for negative feedback.

What I suggest is be a great listener, ask the client what they are looking for along with what they’ve done in the past. Explain how you can you help with their job search and/or training needs. Explain the going trends on job search reassuring your there to assist as needed. Check in with them regularly to see how things are going, but allow them to go at their own pace and be accountable for their job search. Be consistent and very encouraging along the way. Most of all return calls/emails in a timely manor, etc.
