In my opinion one should have a 4 step approach, 1) Identify the issue (what is expected from the position and myself) 2) Collating and analysing the (actual KPIs v/s achieved) in a quantitative representation 3) Have a clear and crisp professional discussion with the coworker to understand his perspective and explain the situation from your perspective. And document the discussion. 4) Keep the manager well informed about the situation and if necessary share the data along with the summary of the discussion
