While some may have preferred methods of learning, it may well come down to available time and how that time is distributed. Its rare that many people have a spare week to attend formal training so online training then seems attractive but constant interruptions can devalue that learning process. Assess the the desired result first whether its learning, for example, a new workflow, new techniques, new software and factor in time for practice as well as initial study. The urgency and availability of learning content may also dictate how training is delivered but ultimately chose what works best for you.

The best way to learn new technology is to practice and apply it to your work.
