So many challenges may thrown at field engineers which includes, technical issues, customer dissatisfaction, frequent failures, multiple breakdowns, unavailability of spare parts etc. hence its critical for them to understand the problem and find solution for it. Two things i found helpful from my experience is that, Firstly, writing the problem in reverse chronological order especially for technical issues. Secondly, Ishikawa or fish bone diagram can help to identify multiple causes for a single effect.
