In a new way of working, it is expected that there may be some short term fall backs, and in fact, you may get worse before you get better. Just like changing your golf swing your people have to learn a new muscle memory at work with consistent practice and reinforcement. When things go according to plan celebrate it, when things get worse and fall back address it constructively. Keep communicating the vision on where the team is going and stay positive.

Set clear expectations and goals to provide direction amidst the transition. Foster a positive environment by recognizing and celebrating achievements, no matter how small. Lastly, promote collaboration and teamwork to strengthen relationships, ensuring everyone feels valued and engaged throughout the process.

During periods of upheaval, I like to focus on short-term wins. 1. Execution: what can we execute on, what can we complete, or take action on today, forgetting about the noise around us? 2. What can we improve? What little improvements can we make to help us reach our goals. Small things can make a big difference. 3. Focus on progress, not perfection. When there is a lot of upheaval around you there will be requirements to change course. Just focus on progress, not necessarily the long-term goal itself. Sometimes that's too far away. Chunk it down into shorter-term wins so people can feel they are making progress. This really helps with motivation.
