Surprisingly, I've found passive networking to be the best form of networking at events. Of course, spit out a great elevator pitch when introducing yourself, but that's it. Don't actively try to sell. And when you connect with someone, genuinely listen to them. Keep in touch post the event... Genuine connections are built over time.
