When you're staring at a blank page with a deadline looming, the worst thing you can do is wait for inspiration. Set a timer for 5 minutes and start writing anything even if it’s messy. I once had an article due in two hours and no ideas were flowing. So, I grabbed my phone, explained the topic to a friend and suddenly, the dots connected. Take the action and don't wait for the perfect moment. The key is movement even if it’s small. Keep the wheels turning and clarity will follow.

Don't try to push through as this can make the writer's block even stronger. Relax and give yourself time to catch your breath, and focus on something else. Smile, laugh, and get in a happy mindset. Then go back to it with a fresh perspective. For example - I am excited, I get to build a new skill by writing this article in an hour -it will be fun to try speed writing, or I'm going to try recording while walking, then I can see what came up. Changing your location, perspective, and attitude is a sure way to get past writer's block.

Take a rest - sometimes when we feel stuck it can really help to get outside and get some fresh air and exercise and a fresh perspective

Most writers frown at outlining. Writers like me see it as cage that restricts creativity and takes away the room for exploration. But...outlining is the best insurance policy in writing. When you make an outline even before you begin, you're a step ahead of timeline constraints and writer's block. The more detailed the outline, the better the efficacy of the insurance.

While AI absolutely should not replace human writing, it can be used for ideation and brainstorming in ways that help overcome writers block. AI tools like ChatGPT may create content that you find out of alignment with what your client wants. However, the process of identifying that can help you work past your writer's block towards the high-quality content you aim to deliver. While you work through it, make sure you communicate any potential changes with your client. They are likely to be more understanding if you're transparent and communicate ahead of the deadline.
