After a student conflict- 1. Address the issue openly with the class. Have a respectful discussion where everyone shares their feelings. 2. Team-building activities can also help rebuild trust. 3. Recognising positive behaviours will keep the atmosphere supportive. 4. Set clear expectations together and practise mindfulness to manage stress. 5. Keeping open communication with students and parents is the key. These steps will transform a tense classroom into a harmonious, productive space.

Firstly a teacher is in loco parentis which means one is standing in the place of the parent. 1. Health and safety issues are paramount such as flying objects. 2. Deescalate the situation. 3. The students need to come to a realization that particular behaviors are harmful to them and those around them. 4. Being fair, just, empathetic and trust building. 5. Build a positive learning environment

I remember one of my last years in the classroom it was the end of the year, and we were playing a warm up game of cooperation with Jenga. For the first game it was every kid for themselves, which I wanted to play out as those last days were getting a bit dicey with peer issues. For the second run I asked them to think about how we could play with the intent to keep it from toppling as long as possible. All of a sudden we were working together, talking, and giving each other helpful feedback. We discussed that synergy allowed every classmate to have a turn & engage while our first game only allowed a few people to be involved. My 9 year old crew got it. Synergy was far better than bitterly being out for oneself any day.
