The go to approach, when you are up against hard deadlines, and absolutely required scope is to assign more resources. Where you get them, well that's another problem! The consideration here is whether adding resources is going to achieve this, or actually SLOW the delivery down. This needs to be examined closely, discussed with the team, with work breakdown changes defined well. Remember new players have potential to disrupt a well-functioning team - so there is always risk. The more you do to head off these "impact" risks the better the result: (defined roles, responsibilities, deliverables, skill req'ts, team communications, team integration events). Plan/Change/Monitor/Adjust... No surprises. Roll with it. Focus on the goal(s).

We start by identifying critical tasks essential to the project's success and focusing resources on those. Next, we negotiate with stakeholders to acquire new resources or offer trade-offs, such as reducing less important tasks. Using AI to streamline processes by automating repetitive tasks can free up time for team members. If needed, seek external resources, such as contractors or consultants. Regularly monitor and adjust to keep everything on track, especially high-value tasks.

Evaluate contract hiring which can make the resource availablity quicker - The Organization Resource Management Group to evaluate internal talent pool and initiate movement - Member rotations to rotate members quickly from older to high priority engagements.

As a Project Manager, I once managed 12 anually and 3-4 concurrent projects. To prioritize effectively, as a team we filtered with 3 parameters approach: 1. Assessing the business impact and benefit of each project. 2. Aligning projects with the business calendar, considering events like Christmas. 3. Evaluating the scope and available resources for each project. This systematic approach allowed us to allocate resources efficiently and ensure timely project completion while maximizing business value.

Optimize existing resources by removing them from non value adding tasks like waiting for inputs, review comments, attending long meetings with less accomplishments etc. Eliminate the lag as much as possible between project tasks and assign members accordingly. As far as possible decompose your plan in such a way you create no contentions on resources assigned on same task. Have a granular efficient plan with a balanced resource assignment eliminating any slack.
