1. Stop talking, make eye contact with the room, and calmly say, "Excuse me everyone, can I please have your attention?" This respectful pause signals a shift and encourages them to settle down. 2. If possible, identify the source of the noise and politely address it. Maybe it's a technical issue or restless attendees. A quick fix can refocus everyone. 3. Speak slower and project your voice to ensure everyone hears you clearly. Vary your tone to keep them engaged - a quieter tone can create anticipation. 4. Pose a question or ask for a quick show of hands. This sudden engagement breaks the noise and brings the focus back to you. Remember to stay calm and assertive.

If the noise is not in your control, like sirens outside or construction noise or air conditioner making noises, address the elephant in the room and joke about it. Humor will disperse the tension and bring the attention towards the speaker.
