Consider: - Leveraging your cloud providers' migration tools. - If the above is not an option due to cost, perf, compliance, etc, consider the performance implications of moving the data to the cloud while ensuring your legacy systems continue operating. - Read replicas can be set so that you can move your data to the cloud and start operating test services on it to ensure consistency. - Failover should be done after extensive validation, and only after running your processes/services in parallel to allow for a smooth transition. Overall, consider things like cost, implementation speed and maintenance effort in your migration plan.
