You're facing delays in a power distribution system project. How can you overcome unexpected obstacles?
Power distribution system projects are complex and delays are often part of the equation. To stay ahead, consider these strategies:
- Assess the situation and identify the root cause of the delay to address it effectively.
- Communicate transparently with stakeholders about the new timeline and any changes in project scope.
- Explore alternative solutions or adjustments in project planning that can mitigate the impact of delays.
How do you tackle unexpected hurdles in your projects? Engage with others to expand your strategy toolkit.

In my experience, it’s beneficial to understand the effects of some actions or steps within a project. For example, during electrical machines installation, such as electric motors, and transformers, we need to examine the importance of power isolation, including on nearby equipment that might interfere with safe lifting and installation operation. With this in mind, it gives the team ample time to plan for all the required isolations, thus the team is not caught be surprise at site. We need to continuously examine the risks associated with every action taken to ensure that engineering tasks are completed safely and within agreed timelines.
