1 Identify the problem

Before you can resolve a conflict, you need to understand what is causing it. Is it a difference of opinion, a misunderstanding, a personality clash, or a competing interest? Try to see the situation from your coworker's perspective, and ask yourself what their needs, goals, and feelings are. 2 Initiate a dialogue

Once you have a clear picture of the problem, you can initiate a dialogue with your coworker to address it. Choose a time and place that is convenient and comfortable for both of you, and avoid distractions or interruptions. The 6-3-5 Method is an efficient brainstorming technique to address workplace conflicts. Invite six participants and clearly present the conflict. Explain the rules: each participant writes three solutions in five minutes, passing their sheet to the next person afterward. Repeat this process several times. After completing the rounds, collect the ideas. Facilitate a group discussion to select the most viable solutions. Develop an action plan based on these and establish follow-ups. This method harnesses diverse perspectives to generate innovative solutions and encourages active participation from the entire team, building consensus to comprehensively address the conflict.

4 Implement and follow up

The final step in resolving a conflict is to implement the agreed-upon solution and follow up on its progress and results. Assign roles and responsibilities, and set a timeline and milestones for the implementation. Communicate regularly and transparently with your coworker, and provide feedback and support as needed.
