Everyone has a contribution to the debrief session if the debrief is done correctly. The newest / lowest ranking person goes first; this prevents the lower echelons from automatically agreeing with their supervisors. If not, valuable feedback is lost due to real or perceived deference to "those who know better."

Treating a debrief like a meeting with an agenda and parliamenary procedure has helped me keep my teams focused on the outcomes and expectations of the debriefs. I knew when and what to table to stay focused on the goals of the debriefing. Asking engaging and probing questions can go a long way toward clearly sharing the information needed for the team to proceed.
