1 Know your worth

The first step is to research the market value of your role and skills in your industry and location. You can use online tools, such as salary surveys, calculators, and benchmarks, to get an idea of the average and range of salaries for FM professionals with similar qualifications and responsibilities. You can also network with other FM professionals , mentors, or recruiters, to get insights and feedback on the current trends and demands in the FM field. Knowing your worth will help you set realistic and reasonable expectations, and avoid asking for too little or too much.

Amazing idea : Decide your own Worth! Its so much relevant in todays world with advent of Globalization the competition, expectations and responsibilities have drastically changed over the last few years. Million Dollar question is How to know your Worth & How would be defined. Herein my two cents - firstly document your true relevant experience, qualification, projects, external collaborations and network, reach within the marketplace such as vendors, recruiters, HR folks, etc. Once this is done; consciously state your realistic expectations, benchmark the salaries with your fraternity, and current market relevance (demand-supply gap), economic situation. Negotiation of high salaries is purely on someone's depth of expertise, truthfulness approaches, high initiative / method on cost saving, more than skills have awareness of failures which ensure enough deserving to identify problem & mitigation and have high human skills which always differentiate in leadership quality. these attributes of anyone will justify the unique selling of qualities to quantify for a better economic growth

While a individual is securing a Job from a Potential employer apart from the Resume/CV individual needs to prove his/her relevance during the F2F interview e.g. Demonstrate your key achievements, highlight specific projects which have made you elevate the profile or value delivered to the employer, how futuristic is your outlook, how updated is your knowledge base in terms of certification, awards, etc. When it comes to convincing the prospect employer that you are best for the job applied demonstrate 3C's - Conviction, Confidence and Courage to deliver the best in the new role. Your new manager is always looking for a complete package meaning Person with 3 E's- Ethics, Experience, Energy. Choose your last battle for salary wisely..

The third step is to choose the right timing for your salary negotiation. You want to avoid asking for a raise when the organization is facing financial difficulties, undergoing changes, or dealing with crises. You also need to be prepared to negotiate and compromise, and have a range of options in mind, such as bonuses, benefits, incentives, or perks. You need to be respectful and courteous, and avoid making ultimatums or threats. You also need to be ready to accept or decline an offer, and communicate your decision clearly and gracefully. Being confident and flexible will help you achieve a win-win outcome, and maintain a positive relationship with your employer or potential employer.
