Considering that the role of maintenance is to keep the equipment in good condition and ready for production at any time, it is necessary to balance scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, as the former complements the latter. Scheduled tasks based on a specific time or a certain duration have their execution time predetermined and known in advance. On the other hand, corrective maintenance tasks take an unknown amount of time, starting with diagnosing the fault, then ordering the replacement part if it is not available in stock, in addition to the repair time and machine testing. From here, we conclude that the priority in intervention is given to scheduled tasks, followed by corrective maintenance tasks.

The priority always be the first thing to do. Concerning to time as well, the scheduled maintenance would have the predictive time to be done meanwhile the urgent may have some troubleshoot and unpredictive time. Planning a head to have a parallel task in between.

To manage urgent repairs and scheduled maintenance efficiently, prioritize tasks based on their urgency and impact. Start with critical repairs to minimize downtime, while still addressing scheduled maintenance. If possible, adjust your maintenance plan by rescheduling non-essential tasks or combining them with repairs. Good communication with your team is crucial to ensure everyone is aware of priorities and can work together effectively. This approach helps you address immediate issues while keeping up with long-term maintenance goals.

1-Prioritize Tasks: Focus first on equipment critical to safety and production. Use risk assessment to decide whether to address urgent repairs immediately or fit them around planned maintenance. 2-Allocate Resources Wisely: Assign personnel to handle urgent tasks, while others focus on scheduled work. Cross-train staff to be versatile across tasks. 3-Combine Tasks When Possible: If an urgent repair aligns with a planned task on the same equipment, handle them together to avoid extra downtime. 4-Communicate and Report: Keep all departments informed of delays or schedule changes due to urgent repairs for smoother operations. 5-Monitor and Adjust: Track downtime and repair frequencies to refine your schedule and reduce future urgent tasks
