You're faced with multiple critical machine breakdowns. How do you decide which repairs to prioritize?

One thing i have found to be helpful is to assess which of the breakdowns poses imminent danger to personel, plant & / or environment , then rectify accordingly in the shortest time possible. After safety consider which one greatly affects productivity/production and give top priority to that as well

Safety is always my top priority and concern whenever my floor scrubber goes down. I had a bad horn on my backup floor scrubber earlier this year and I had to down it because of the safety issues that came up in February. I informed my Ehs Coordinator about the safety issue and he submitted a Maintenance work order for repairs on the floor scrubber’s horn. The problem is currently resolved.

Equipamentos vitais para a produtividade da planta devem sempre ter sua disponibilidade e confiabilidade próximas ao 100%. Adotando um cronograma de manuten??es preventivas e realizando uma análise de melhorias constantes é crucial para a redu??o de paradas.

en nuestro lugar, realizamos la cunsulta de prioridades a los lideres de los sectores/maquinas afectadas para que nos den un indice de prioridad para encarar las maquinas mas criticas entorno al impacto de producción.

One thing that i have found helpful is to always identify problematic spare parts. Those that are difficult to outsource should be found well before any breakdown occurs. There should always be a maintenance plan in place and in the case of unexpected Critical multiple breakdowns each case should be dealt with in order of importance, MTTR and expertise of the personnel on the team. On top of it all safety first no matter how critical a situation is!

Siempre la etapa de reparacion es fundamental para evitar contratiempos..de manera tal que los respuestos y la mano de obra esten avocados al seguimiento del proceso... Saludos

If there is an effective preventative maintenance plan in place, most breakdowns shouldn't be all that extreme. Sometimes things happen that preventative maintenance can't address and when that happens you have to deal with it case by case. A prepared maintenance crew will have parts on hand to fix or rescue any component of every machine that they are involved with. Parts that can't be easily kept onsite hopefully have been located before they are ever needed so that a vendor is just a call or email away .

obviamente, una vez indicadas las prioridades de producción, se realiza un orden de prioridad segun el tiempo y los recursos disponibles para esa maquina especifica. de no darse las condiciones, las prioridades deben cambiar su lugar.

según lo comentado anteriormente, se comunica a los sectores y cargos pertinentes y se fijan prioridades, se cotejan costos, tiempo de reparaciones y se re evaluan las prioridas por criticidad y disponibilidad de recursos existentes.

One good thing to consider if the budget allows it is to bring in an expert if the need requires to ensure proper and effective repairs are being made on the equipment. Having an Expert on a specific equipment not only saves time on equipment repairs and troubleshooting but also guarantees a more effective solution to the problem.

workforce will you have someone available to complete repairs and will they have the resources in case an issue arises that was unforeseen when machine was tagged for repair
