Lo ideal es tener muy clara la idea de lo que vamos a necesitar para una producción, desde los elementos técnicos, logísticos, artísticos y el personal que va a laborar en el proyecto. Revisar cautelosamente que todo esté funcionando. Hay que saber delegar. Idealism. There is a show in the head of a director when they read the script but there is also the show that they can actually make with who and what they have available. It is important to be open to being re-inspired by who and what you have along with that initial vision. This will enable you to meld the two into the best possible show. Otherwise, you will strive for the ideal and fail and most likely be miserable in the attempt, making everyone else miserable along the way. Often artists take this struggle for perfection on the chin and don’t complain much but I know from experience, the joy that comes from adaptability and surprise is not something you want to miss.

Another common mistake is to assume that you have all the answers and that your vision is the only one that matters. While you have the final say as a director, you also need to listen to the input and feedback of your team, especially your actors.
