One thing my boss has told me that’s helped ground me lately. Stop, Pause, Breath. Take the time to “zen out” and in the case of emergency/risk management: break up your situation into smaller tasks, triage and prioritize said tasks as necessary now that they’re bite size…from there then, zen out, calm yourself, breathe, and execute. Take breaks when necessary, for sanity or rest periods to hydrate And never be afraid to have candid, honest conversations and lean on management and/or your peers on team if you need to. It’s ok to raise your hand and say you don’t know something, or you’re unsure of your decision and thus, you need a second opinion before you act. For me: I stop, assess, triage, breathe, execute and then perform.
