When I encounter conflicting information from family members in a case, I approach the situation with empathy and a careful, systematic approach. I first try to understand each family member's perspective by actively listening, asking clarifying questions, and observing body language and tone. I look for consistent details and factual information across accounts, while also considering each person’s unique relationship to the issue. If needed, I consult external sources like medical records or school reports to cross-verify claims. Building trust with each family member is crucial; I guess this allows me to gather a more holistic view of the situation and work toward understanding the family dynamics at play.

In my experience, most family members will either embellish what is going on or they were minimize what is going on. Usually there are people of both varieties in the same family and they don’t agree on anything. This is why it’s just simply background information most of the information you’re going to really get is from the client.so while talking to the family is important it’s critical that you believe what your client gives you over what the family gives you.
