Tough one, you cant get experience with practice, and no one will give you a position until you have experience, the industry is full of vicious circles…, Try volunteering at a local butchers to undertake and understand some basics, trussing/basic butchery for example, and practice trussing at home with a cloth and twine to save money, or watching videos on you tube, and following proper chefs on instagram that do demonstrations and not trying to sell a book for example. But it doesn’t have to hold you back, research and practice will get a step in the right direction. But take roles you can learn in, not for money

"hands on" ... "virtual" ... not comparable. The catch 22 of needing experience to get experience has always and will always be the contradiction. Focus on you own ethos and make that your guide. Have the courage to say yes. Never be afraid to make decision that do not immediately serve you... all decisions are teachers, there is no good or bad simply experience!
