You’re creating a product demo. How can you make it engaging and memorable?

Additionally.... It's the user of the product rather than an audience that the demo needs to cater to. It does not matter of the audience is technically proficient, if it does not convey the key benefits and features to all, the demo is probably too complicated.

Knowing your audience, and taking on from the perspective of the user, are the most critical parts. Then relate to them by positioning your product as something that eases out their current pain points. Weave a story around the product, and the reasons why it was conceptualized. This would go deep into them and favour a better recall.

Tailoring a presentation involves understanding the audience's needs. Focus on how your product directly addresses their challenges rather than solely listing features. For instance, in a project management tool demo, highlight features like real-time messaging and task assignments, demonstrating how these solve communication issues. Emphasize benefits such as quicker project completion and reduced misunderstandings among teams. Engage the audience by posing relatable scenarios, encouraging questions, and showcasing how your product resolves their specific pain points, making it easier for them to visualize its benefits.

Typically a product is something that solves the problem a customer is having. This means it should work for the customer application. Hence a real product demo is to show the customer how the product works for their application. I would encourage this to be done at the customer premise or a real installation scenario of the customer. That way we can showcase the real applicability of the product and also help to learn certain improvement needs during the trail.

An engaging and memorable product demo needs to be opened with a problem statement and then the next step should show how the demo product can be a solution to that particular problem. During this whole process, we need to engage the audience, include customer testimonials, share real customer success stories along the way, and conclude the demo with a clear and compelling call to action that tells the audience what to do next. This could be signing up for a free trial, scheduling a consultation, or making a purchase.

When trying to sell any product, people focus more on what the thought or the story of that product is rather than just the product itself. If you can sell people a good story that people connect with and relate with, it can make your product stand out in its market. For example: A brand like nike sells its idea of just do it, this makes people feel like they can do anything, they are limitless and that feeling is powerful.

Something that really clicks for me is keeping the audience in the loop. I use various methods for this, but the one that pays off the most is telling a story. I create characters, take the audience on a journey, and make sure it touches on some emotional points—whether it's building up to a climax or presenting a challenge that gets resolved thanks to the product or offering. This not only makes the demo more engaging but also adds a human touch to what might otherwise be an abstract conversation.

It’s always best to convey your ideas through real world examples or comparisons. In a presentation, more visual representation than text attracts viewers. So, even though the demo tells a story, the presentation with less text and more pictograms are important aspects to convey the contents. Make sure that this part is not too long that people loose focus.

Sharing your dreams and highlighting your product details in line to your purpose is always a good way to engage simular minds. Based on that, followers may be hooked on a feeling if belonging and contribute with ideas and experiences that may be valuable.

While presenting a complex data analysis platform to non-technical stakeholders, I simplified the demonstration by emphasizing its user-friendly interface and practical applications. As per my opinion it should be keep simple so wide range of audience can understand the need of product. Sometimes complicated demonstration can confuses audience.

A great product demo is not created by listing all technical details, but by illustrating the customer benefit compared to the state of the art (or older demos). In general, the focus should be more on the emotions of the customers rather than their analytical mind.

Keep it simple that's a good one. Don't assume what the customer needs and spend hours on features that might not be needed. Instead give immediate value by applying the fundamental requirements and give the customer something to play with. Take early feedback so to align with the customer needs as early as possible.

A demo is supposed to convey how the thing works in the practical realm, it isn't supposed to be a long theory lecture. People learn more by doing so it is better to demonstrate how things work than to give away its essence as a story. Showing how the product will help people and the level of impact it will potentially create is a great way to make a lasting impact on the audience.

The value of show dont tell is to get people to experience rather than understand, it creates engagement and drives motivation in the audience. To really show a product the audience therefore should experience it them selves, not seeing a video of someone, or having a live demo of features but trying it out (when feasible). Here its important to showcase the 1-2 features that make a product stand out (usually a product distinguishes on just a few features these are the ones you want to show). Depending on what value your product brings, being it usability, cost effectiveness or sheer joy think about that this is at the center of what the audience takes from the demo.

A product demo has to be impacting for the audience , remarking in a few steps all the properties of the product , has to be clear and precise about benefits over competition.

At Inuru we always use demos to make our product better. Demos are the perfect stage to do exactly that. By applying the selling-by-experience technique, you have to involve the audience. This means never just present a product and switch on the button byyourself, to show your technology, but let the customer touch the button. Let the customer navigate the website (if he cant it probably sucks!) You will see the reluctance of interacting with it, but also the result by his reaction. This is not only a memorable experience for him, but also valuable information for you. You can see the reaction, ask questions about expectations and see wether the product is intuitive enough.

The best way of explaining is a physical demo.Let them to use your product and experience it.Let them to participate.Being a user will make them to give more ideas and appreciation with your product.

After a demo for a research prototype, I followed up with attendees by sharing additional resources and offering a hands-on trial. This post-demo engagement not only reinforced the key points discussed but also allowed for a deeper understanding of the prototype's potential applications.

Startwith known facts & mechanism in which the current solution existing, ask the Question if some features are added, will the product usability, applications is useful/ peoductive? Your audience are already given with what your product can do .. now directly switchover to the demo of your products with the solutions to the questions asked by you in your preamble/opening. Create excitation/inquisitiveness & interest before opening up & walking through your product or solution. This keeps them to seek the product's features which solves the lacks of existing product offerings. Creating a great pre opening/demo story and posing questions (your product has thesolutions/feautures), expectations lead to an engaging demo that interests.

In addition to the suggestions within the paragraph send your customer application specific articles. It is possible that the product that was demonstrated is not the right product for the customer. If you sell a product that you think would better match the customers' needs bring up that product (especially if it is cheaper). This will build your relationship with the customer and they are more likely to recommend you to other customers.

Yes, this is somthing crucial once demo is over. Follow up is not only required to take the project forward but also enable us to understand the customer key learning and their requirment. In some case it would be benefical for us as well to correct or modify if any gap exists.

Put effort into all of these areas prior to an engagement; you need to care about what you are about to do, so put in the work. However, you will not have the answer for every possible scenario that could arise… so relax. My bit of advice to anyone giving their 1st or 100th demo would be to “just be you”… be genuine, be honest. Your audience will consist of real people that put their pants on the same way you do, so treat them that way. Sure, some of your audience may be corporate officers or investors, some may be peers, while others may be subordinates or support staff, it doesn’t matter; you’ll quickly realize that those interested in what you are presenting will treat you with respect and be eager to learn. When you are introducing a new product and want to make it memorable then you can consider following- Showcase it as a need even if not needed. Without it the customer's day/home is incomplete. Showcase it as a luxury product and only certain people use it. People tend to use such products more as India It's more about status and symbol than the need of the product.

Empathise - understand your customers better. Ask questions, relate, engage… What do they love? What do they hate? Where is the pain? What keeps them up at night? Every demo is an opportunity to learn - how to explain as well as where to invest in the future.

When you show your audience your prototype, try to focus on all the issues you had and how you redesign it to avoid them. Remember we learn more from our mistakes and this step will show the audience how deep the testing was carried out and turn it into detonating questions for the audience to participate. If you don't show all the testing carried out with the either typical or non typical scenarios that were considered, this will lose the interest of your technical audience whose feedback could result in the most valuable improvements for your product.

Highlight its goal It is key to identify from the beginning the need to satisfy or the problem to resolve with the product demo and keep the speech focused on how its properties contribute to the solution. The speech must be the most transparent and realistic possible and avoid false expectations.
