One thing I've found really helpful is having standardized guidelines in a design toolkit. Microsoft's Inclusive Design Kit is a fantastic example. Starting with user research is a good idea as it helps incorporate diverse perspectives, including various backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. For different abilities, testing the digital features based on WCAG guidelines is an excellent way to ensure inclusive design. And when it comes to guidelines, inclusive colors and fonts are absolutely essential!

One of the most common practices at the moment are videos that feature text-based slides with no narration, only music over the top. These are easy and cheap to create in programs like Canva, but they mean that anyone who has low or no vision is not going to be able to access the information in the videos. The best practice is to fully voice any content in the video, including describing any important images or information. This can be done cost-effectively with AI voicing programs like Speechify if you don't have the resources to get a human narrator. If narration isn't an option, be sure to provide a text transcript of your video, containing any text as well as description of important images - and make this easy to find and access.
