Corporate training can be very diverse and the expectations very different depending on company culture and topic. Some businesses expect more of an information transmission approach and some more of a discovery approach. The latter usually works best for engagement!

Grow your facilitation career and your wallet... If you start off with corporate training and you enjoy it, think big. Develop workshops and trainings that can be modified to work across several types of corporations along with a schedule that allows you to meet the needs of multiple large companies. Often, if you do well delivering one type of training and have several to offer, the training director starts to think of you when they need a workshop.

This path can lead to a lot of fun. Although you may start out moderating events you find boring, the better you get the more there is an opportunity to Branch out. Finding yourself as part of a panel discussion with actors or comic book artists or a number of other professionals you admire is not out of the question. Look for events like the ones you really want to moderate and look for opportunities in that area.

Unlimited potential is what I hear when it comes to facilitating workshops. This is where I focus most of my energy. If you can find a job that will pay for your training, there are literally thousands of different programs which will train you to deliver their workshops (one of my employers trained paid for my training in safeTALK, 7 Habits, Myers-Briggs, PREP 8.0, Got Your Back, ASIST, and more. The skills you gain from delivery in these can not only give you confidence, that will help you to see what the characteristics of a successful workshop look like. At some point in your career, you may find yourself using the knowledge of game to develop your own workshops.
